The first comprehensive retrospective devoted to Andrea del Verrocchio (1435-1488) will be on display in Florence from March 9 to July 14 at Palazzo Strozzi, with an accompanying presentation at the Museo Nazionale del Bargello. Verrocchio, Master of Leonardo brings together masterpieces by Verrocchio from collections around the world, contextualized by works from his forefathers and peers, as well as by the pupils he worked intensively with, including Leonardo da Vinci, Pietro Perugino, Domenico Ghirlandaio and Sandro Botticelli.

Showcasing over 120 paintings, sculptures and drawings, the exhibition demonstrates Verrochio’s remarkable creativity as a solo artist, illustrating his workshop as a crucial place of collaboration, exchange and co-working, where the language and the style of Renaissance art in Florence was forged. Curated by two leading experts in the art of the Quattrocento, Francesco Caglioti and Andrea De Marchi, thi is one of the flagship events in the programme of celebrations marking the 500th anniversary of Leonardo’s death.

La primera gran retrospectiva dedicada a Andrea del Verrocchio (1435-1488) se puede visitar en Florencia del 9 de marzo al 14 de julio en el Palazzo Strozzi y el Museo Nazionale del Bargello. Verrocchio, el maestro de Leonardo reúne obras maestras de Verrocchio procedentes de colecciones de todo el mundo, contextualizadas involucrando a sus antepasados ​​y coetáneos, así como a los discípulos con los que trabajó estrechamente, entre ellos Leonardo da Vinci, Pietro Perugino, Domenico Ghirlandaio y Sandro Botticelli.
